Darian Gier, LCSW

Originally from the suburb of Wheaton, Illinois, Darian (he/him) has worked as a therapist and social worker in a variety of settings for the past eleven years, including schools, community mental health, and the New York University counseling center. He believes therapy begins foremost with establishing a strong, intimate relationship, and then works from a variety of frameworks, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, Mindfulness, culturally informed therapy, and Behaviorism. Though comfortable working with clients of all genders and orientations, Darian is most fascinated with contemporary issues of healthy masculinity and male identity in the 21 st Century. His practice specialties also include ADHD, adolescents and emerging adults, Anxiety, Depression, Anger issues, porn and sex addiction, navigating education and special education, BIPOC members, internationals and immigrants, and religious issues in therapy.

Clients find Darian to be a very relational and supportive therapist, and he loves to use humor in the therapy setting to set clients at ease. Darian has a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from The University of Chicago and received his master of social work from Loyola University Chicago.

Outside of work, Darian enjoys many hobbies, including traveling, exercise, movies, books, listening to and making music, following sports, the great outdoors, cooking and cuisine, and keeping up with current events.
