Julie Shevrin, LCSW

Julie believes therapy is a unique relationship that allows people to bring their whole selves to the encounter: there is no judgment of self-destructive habits or symptoms in the space she creates for her clients. When you feel free to discuss your real emotions, a relationship based on trust develops, allowing you to begin thinking about yourself in deeper and more truthful ways. It is this process that empowers you to change. Julie is here to support you as you experiment with new and often scary ways of thinking, feeling and living. She is here to help you imagine your own vision of a life you may never have thought was possible or deserved.

Julie uses a warm and compassionate approach to partnering with you as you rebuild a stronger sense of self, a deeper connection to others and an enhanced ability to manage the challenges of life. She is focused on helping you address the root causes of suffering that may be interfering with your ability to fully attend to the things that matter most to you.

Julie is a relational therapist and primarily works from a psychodynamic, existential framework but utilizes other therapeutic modalities depending on your needs. She has worked with individuals from various cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds in many of Chicago's neighborhoods. Julie received her MSW from Loyola University Chicago and her BA in History and Sociology from UW-Madison.
