Tim Lo, LCSW

Tim (he/him) believes good therapy is not just about connecting to another person, but also about understanding the context of our internal world: our thoughts, emotions, memories, desires, compulsions, and more. His approach is to help people change how they interact with their internal world in an effort to pursue a more fulfilling life, sometimes helping people define what that means to them along the way. In his experience this generally involves a lot of education, trust, and practicing how to use tools and exercises outside of sessions.

Tim utilizes ACT, CBT, and EPR to assist adults with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, other mood disorders, OCD, anger management, and ADHD. He takes a similar approach in pre-marital and relationship counseling, with a special focus on communication and problem solving.

Tim got his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and his Masters in Social Work from UIC's Jane Addams College of Social Work.

Outside of therapy Tim can be found reading science fiction and fantasy, playing video games, cooking (especially pizza - his Everest, his white whale), and snuggling with his two cats.
